How to plan travels in advance
5 tips on becoming a pro travel planner, while leaving space for spontaneity.
1 Brainstorm destinations
Brainstorming and daydreaming are arguably the best tools for any traveller. We each have our bucket list of places we would like to visit, and things we would like to see and experience. Let these be your guides for whenever you are planning your next trips. Take some time each year to write down all the destinations you would like to visit in the next months, and simply start scratching them off one by one.
2 Keep an eye on cheap flights
Once you have a list of the places you want to visit, make use of travel websites and set alarm notifications for cheap flights. This will allow you to know about great flight deals as soon as they appear, and it might save you a lot of money, which you can then use on enjoying the holiday.
3 Know the weather seasons
Familiarise yourself with the weather seasons of the places which you want to visit. It might happen that flights to certain destinations are cheaper precisely because the weather conditions are not good. Make sure you know which season you are travelling to, and that it meets your expectations. There is nothing worse than arctic temperatures during a city trip, or cloudy skies during a beach holiday.
4 Look for events
Interesting events can really add a lot to any trip. Simply research what’s on in the given places you wish to travel to. Maybe you find a festival which you would really enjoy, or an exhibition you would like to see.
5 Do your research
The whole point of planning travel in advance is, after all, to go well prepared. So we suggest you spend some quality time researching information about your chosen location, from sightseeing tips, to best restaurants, parties, transport options, or activities. Use the internet, travel apps, but also ask your friends, and write down your must-do list in a journal to take with you once you travel.
