How to save money for travels
There are a few easy ways to limit unnecessary monthly expenses, and if you do so, you can be enjoying that weekend trip or beachtime sooner than expected.
Analyse your expenses
For one month, follow all the money you spend. This is a simple exercise that will require a piece of paper and a calculator. Just note down your fixed expenses for each month, such as rent, car insurance, basic food supplies, or phone, and then look at your actual monthly spending. You will most probably see there is a big amount of money which you spend on top of what you actually need. Then analyse where most of your money goes, and see if you are able to spend more wisely, or save on unnecessary items.
Cut your midday coffee house break
It’s our daily habits that suck up most of our money at the end of the month. Whatever it is that you do on a daily basis will add up. For example, notice how much you spend on coffee breaks in cafes. You could train yourself to simply have a coffee at home, or actually, skip the afternoon coffee altogether. You will not only save a lot of money, it will also probably be quite good for you.
Cook at home
Eating out often makes for the largest chunk of your monthly budget. Meals in restaurants are overpriced, and you still have to grocery shop for basic food items. Consider that for one dinner out, you could do a shopping for at least three full days of cooking. So cook at home, make a party out of it. Invite friends, experiment with recipes, and have fun with it.
Drink less
Besides eating out, going for drinks a few days a week also amounts to a lot of money. Cocktails and alcohol in general are extremely overpriced when you go to bars and clubs, so why not host parties at home? You can create a great, if not better and more intimate atmosphere when it is just you and your good friends. So for a month, just try to cut down on your outside alcoholic consumption. You will be surprised by how much you save.
